2008 Closedown
The UNLV Rebels wrapped up its 2008 season on Saturday, May 10 with a 6-0 loss to the #21/19 San Diego State Aztecs at Eller Media Stadium. The Rebels concluded the season with a 25-40-1 overall record, while finishing sixth in the Mountain West Conference with a 5-15 mark. [ + ] The Mountain West All-Conference softball awards, as selected by the league's six head coaches, were announced today. UNLV placed three student-athletes (Ashli Holland, Brittany Bolinger and Jaci Hull) on the 20-member squad. [ + ] The UNLV Rebels (25-40-1 overall, 5-15 Mountain West Conference) lost its final game of the 2008 season on "Senior Day" to the #19 San Diego State Aztecs, 6-0, Saturday afternoon at Eller Media Stadium. The win gives SDSU the MWC Championship with a 15-5 league mark and 43-15 overall record. [ + ] The UNLV Rebels (25-39-1 overall, 5-14 Mountain West Conference) dropped a 9-0, five-inning decision to the #19 San Diego State Aztecs (42-15, 14-5) on Friday night at Eller Media Stadium. The Aztecs took a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning with help from two Rebel errors and never looked back as Christina Ross tossed a one-hitter for the visitors. [ + ] Three UNLV softball student-athletes were named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Eight Teams on Thursday. Jaci Hull was tabbed to the first team, while Brittany Bolinger and Caitlyn Paus were selected to the second team. Hull is now eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America status by virtue of being placed on the district's first team. [ + ] The UNLV Rebel softball team will closedown the 2008 season this weekend when they host the San Diego State Aztecs in the regular season finale for both squads. The teams will play a set of games with the first one scheduled on Friday, May 9 at 6:00 pm, while the second is set for Saturday, May 10 at 1:00 pm. Saturday has been deemed "Senior Day", as UNLV will celebrate the careers of its five seniors (Caitlyn Paus, Sandy Nakamura, Rosa Ordaz, Heather Slettvet and Stephanie Bean). [ + ] |
